| From Soldier to Soldier bracelet |
From Soldier to Soldier is a fundraising campaign designed to raise awareness of wounded soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. The organization, headed by Stefan Hylleborg, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, seeks to raise money through the sale of a bracelet designed by jewelry designer, Claus Scheelke. The design of the bracelet was inspired by so-called "
Survival Bracelets," originally crafted and worn by soldiers in the field with 550 lb test parachute cord. The heavy-duty material used is both symbolic and pragmatic, due to its ability to be unraveled quickly and used for a variety of purposes.
Niels Christensen, owner of
Scandihoovians, located at Thornes Marketplace in Northampton, MA, brought From Solider to Solider to North America. He created
LovelinksAmerica, the distributor of the From Soldier to Soldier bracelets.
Marine Sgt. Joshua Bouchard, a native of Western MA, and wounded veteran of the war in Afghanistan, is the spokesperson of From Soldier to Soldier. He will also be a recipient of a brand new specially adapted home donated by
Homes for Troops. The home will be built in Granby, MA and many local businesses will donate their time and services to make the new home possible for Sgt. Bouchard.
The bracelets sell for $95, with $25 of the proceeds going directly to Homes for Troops. Scandihoovians is located in Northampton and Amherst, MA. Get directions
